Surgical Preparation, Aftercare and Results
In preparation for surgery, you will be asked to complete lab testing and a medical evaluation, adjust certain hormones or current medications, stop smoking and stop taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements that may increase bleeding. Transfeminine top surgery is performed at the Surgery Center of Carmel under general anesthesia and the procedure typically takes two hours. Dr. Chernoff performs top surgery using a small incision.

Following your procedure, gauze or bandages will be applied to your incisions in addition to a wrap-around elastic bandage to minimize swelling and to support the breasts. The day after your surgery, the elastic bandage is removed, and a supportive bra will be provided to you to be worn in its place.
Following the procedure, our patients are given specific instructions that include how to care for your surgical sites, medications, when to follow up with Dr. Chernoff, and post-care instructions. Healing will continue for several weeks as swelling decreases and the breast shape improves. Overtime, the breast implants will settle, and the incision scars will improve, although never disappearing completely.
