How Does Sculptra Aesthetic Work?

Sculptra Aesthetic uses innovative Poly-L-lactic (PLLA) to help replace and stimulate collagen that is lost due to aging. Collagen is found within your skin and helps support a smooth and youthful appearance. As we age and lose this collagen, wrinkles and folds form and volume is lost.

How Is Sculptra Aesthetic Injected And What Are The Results?

Your procedure is an in-office procedure and typically takes just 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Poly-L-lactic, a synthetic material, is injected in selected points on your face depending on the target area you’ve requested. You can request treatment for your nasolabial folds (also known as smile lines), the lines around your mouth, or chin wrinkles.

Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra Aesthetic results are not immediately seen. Due to the fact that your body is gradually producing more collagen, the visible results take longer to be seen. This slower process may be appealing to individuals because it will be less noticeable that you have had facial filler injections. Final results do not happen for a few weeks and often patients need multiple injections after initial treatment to achieve ideal results.

Patients can resume normal activity immediately following the procedure. Poly-L-lactic is a biosynthetic, biodegradable substance and is safe for the human body. It is naturally produced in muscle tissue. You may feel moderate discomfort, bruising, redness, and/or swelling at the injection site, but the application of an ice pack can help with these side effects. If you do feel any additional adverse reactions, you should inform our office immediately.

Sculptra Aesthetic injections typically last for 2 years, but you will need to complete a series of injections in the first couple of months. You will probably need a series of three injections to complete the course. Another way to improve the effects of your treatment is to massage your face after each session. This will ensure the material is distributed evenly. After 2 years, subsequent injections will be required to prolong the results.

Is Sculptra Aesthetic Safe?

Sculptra Aesthetic was FDA-approved in 2004 for the treatment of facial fat loss, marionette lines, smile lines, and chin wrinkles. Dr. Chernoff and his staff are committed to safety. All patients undergoing facial and hand injectable treatments are seen one week after treatment to ensure that they are happy with the results.
