Laser Removal of Facial Pigment and Blemishes
Many patients describe a blotchy or uneven pigmentation from forehead to chin. Often times this pigment can also be associated with the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. Utilizing the latest laser technology, a treatment has been developed to airbrush this fine pigment on the face in as few as one to two treatments. The laser for facial pigment and blemishes gives off a color of light that is absorbed specifically by the pigment in the epidermis and dermis. No needles or anesthetic is required for this treatment.

Patients describe this treatment as having the sensation of an elastic band snapping on their skin. Beginning on the forehead, any area of darker pigment as compared to the surrounding areas is treated. Working its way down towards the chin, the laser seeks out any darker pigmentation as compared to the surrounding areas. Immediately after the treatment, the patient will notice a fine white flake in all treatment areas. This gradually turns pink or red. Patients may then notice a light crust develop in the treatment areas. Over the course of the next four to five days, this flake or crust falls off. Patients then notice one of two things. Either the pigment is gone and the treatment area remains slightly pink, or the pigment remains but continues to lighten over the next six weeks. Pigment which is typically gone after one treatment resided in the epidermis, while pigment that continues to lighten usually resides in the epidermis and dermis. Darker pigment situated deeper in the skin can require multiple treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Men and women are excellent candidates for this blending procedure. This is frequently associated with hormonal changes in women and some drug interactions with men.
The treatment of unwanted facial pigment is a treatment which has a high amount of satisfaction with patients as this blends the appearance and yields the necessity for wearing much less foundation in the female population. There is no down time associated with this treatment as the laser does not break the surface of the skin and makeup or concealer can be worn immediately upon leaving the office.
