After medical school, Dr. Chernoff completed a five-year residency followed by three years of intensive fellowship training in Facial Plastic/ Reconstructive Surgery, Laser Therapy, Breast Rejuvenation and Body Contouring.

Background & Expertise
Dr. Chernoff received a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. After Medical School, Dr. Chernoff began the practice of medicine in Canada. He completed his surgical residency in Otolaryngology which included extensive training in Head and Neck Surgery, Microvascular Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, and Cosmetic Surgery.
During his surgical residency, Dr. Chernoff saw the devastating effects of Cancer. He decided to complete additional training to further his surgical expertise in order to help Cancer Patients requiring complex facial reconstruction.
Dr. Chernoff completed three fellowships to master the art of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Chernoff completed his first fellowship in Flow Cytometry and Laser Surgery in Canada. To further his expertise, he completed his second in Indianapolis in Head and Neck Surgery,
Microvasculer Surgery, Breast, and Body Contouring. This extensive training allowed Dr. Chernoff to operate on the most complex facial reconstructive cases involving cancer of the head, face, and neck. Most surgical cases required Dr. Chernoff to operate between 12-18 hours for each patient some requiring multiple surgeries to complete the reconstruction of facial bones, jaws, noses, and necks.
After demonstrating expertise in complex reconstructive plastic surgery, Dr. Chernoff was selected to complete a fourth fellowship, training under one of top plastic surgeons in the world.
Dr. Chernoff completed this fellowship at the University of California in San Francisco in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. As a result of Dr. Chernoff's training, his surgical expertise was sought after in both California and Indiana. He began his cosmetic surgical practices in both states.
Board Certification is a voluntary and rigorous process completed by passing comprehensive written and oral exams. Board certifications must be maintained through annual requirements of continuing medical education.
Dr. Chernoff is board certified by three regulating medical authorities. He completes on average 100 hours of continuing medical education per year.
Dr. Chernoff is certified by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, The American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and The American Board of Facial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
This means that Dr. Chernoff is Triple Board Certified, accomplished by very few plastic surgeons in the world.

In 1991, Dr. Chernoff received the Canadian Clinical Research Award for original research in Otolaryngology. He demonestrated "The Potential Clinical Impact of Fine Needle Aspiration and Flow Cytometry in the Diagnosis and Treatments of Malignant Lymphoma." This research was instrumental in early diagnosis for these patients.
In 1992, Dr. Chernoff received the Triologic Eastern Section Research Award for The Role of Fine Needle Aspiration and Flow Cytometry in the Diagnosis and Treatments of Malignant Lymphoma.
In 2002, the American Aestheticians Association awarded Dr. Chernoff with the "BEST PLASTIC SURGERY TEACHER" award.
Dr. Chernoff received Americas" Top Doctors Award" in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. In 2006, he received Sonoma County's "Best "Plastic Surgeon" award.
Dr. Chernoff is the founder of the Victims of Violence foundation, providing treatment for victims who might not otherwise have the financial means to cover the cost reconstructive surgery, treatment for injury, scar therapy and follow-up care.
Dr. Chernoff has first hand experience with the physical and psychological damage caused by violence and abuse.
As a result of this experience, Dr. Chernoff connects with victims and has made it his personal mission to help victims heal their physical wounds. He believes that by helping heal the physical wounds, victims emotional healing can begin.
