How It Works

Poly-L-lactic is injected to help replace the collagen that is lost due to aging. Collagen is found within your skin and helps support a smooth and youthful facial appearance. As we age and lose this collagen, we need to replace it to stay young-looking. The injections help reinforce the structure of your skin by replacing lost collegen. Unlike collagen injections, the sculptra procedure gradually and subtly. The result is a refined solution to facial wrinkles.

What Happens

Your procedure is scheduled at an office of Chernoff And Associates and takes just 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Poly-L-lactic, a synthetic material is injected in selected points on your face, depending on the target area you've requested. You can request treatment for your nasolabial folds (also known as smile lines), the lines around your mouth, or chin wrinkles. One of our qualified doctors will inject the material under the dermis and subcutis layer.

A reduction in wrinkle lines will gradually and naturally become apparent with time. This procedure works for 2 years, but you will need to complete a series of injections in the first couple months. After 2 years, subsequent injections are required.

Safety

Dr. Chernoff and our qualified cosmetic surgeons at Chernoff And Associates will ensure your appointment proceeds safely and without risk. Patients can resume normal activity immediately following the procedure. Poly-L-lactic is a biosynthetic, biodegradable substance and is safe for the human body. It is naturally produced in muscle tissue. You may feel moderate discomfort, bruising, redness and/or swelling at the injection site, but application of an ice pack can help with these side effects. If you do feel any additional adverse reactions, you should inform our office immediately.

Getting the Most Out of Treatment

There are a few ways you can optimize your procedure's results. Follow through with all subsequent appointments after your first appointment. You will probably need a series of three injections to complete the course. Another way to improve the effects of your treatment is to massage your face after each session. This will ensure the material is distributed evenly.
